The team at Askari Yachts is proud to announce that construction of the first Askari 65 Power long-range cruiser is now well underway at our Cape Town facility. This marks a major milestone for the company, which specialises in building high-performance, custom aluminium yachts designed for serious ocean exploration.

Built entirely from aluminium, the Askari 65 Power is a robust and elegant vessel designed to travel vast distances in comfort. This first model will feature a four-cabin, all ensuite layout, offering generous volume, full standing headroom throughout—including the engine room—and a highly customisable interior to suit the owner’s specific requirements.

The build is being led by James Felgate, a veteran of the South African boatbuilding industry with over two decades of hands-on experience in yacht construction and systems integration. James is overseeing the production of this first vessel to ensure it meets the high standards of craftsmanship and capability for which Askari Yachts is quickly becoming known.

Cape Town, recognised as the largest catamaran-building city in the world, offers the ideal environment for the development of ocean-capable yachts. With its world-class infrastructure, skilled maritime workforce, and rugged coastline that demands excellence, Cape Town has earned its place on the global stage as a centre of yacht-building expertise.

The Askari 65 Power is built from aluminium—a material increasingly favoured in modern yacht construction for its long-term durability, low maintenance, fire resistance, and eco-friendly recyclability. Aluminium also allows for greater flexibility in design and layout, making it an excellent choice for owners seeking a vessel tailored to their cruising lifestyle.

As construction progresses, we’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes insights, photography, and technical highlights from the build.
